About us

Memphis offers a nightlife experience of electronic music and art, with a touch of ancient Egypt’s culture and storytelling. Founded in Budapest in January 2021 during the COVID period, the project was created with the vision of bringing a deeper, more immersive artistic experience to the electronic music scene.

At the core of Memphis is the idea of transforming each event into a complete artistic journey where music, visuals, fashion, and performance coexist within a single concept-driven atmosphere. Alongside carefully curated house and techno lineups, Memphis events feature live visual shows, live painting performances, dance shows, art exhibitions, masquerade balls, and tarot card reading experiences, creating a unique fusion of nightlife, art, and theatrical storytelling. In addition, Memphis organizes larger-scale concept events and special collaborations throughout the year, including multidisciplinary fashion shows that merge runway performances with electronic music and immersive visual design.

Inspired by ancient Egyptian symbolism and aesthetics, every Memphis event is designed as its own “episode,” with a distinct visual identity, theme, and emotional direction reflected in the venue design, performances, music selection, and artistic collaborations. The project stands out by creating immersive experiences that have no equivalent within Budapest’s nightlife scene, offering a level of artistic direction and multidisciplinary entertainment that no other local event series provides.

Over the past five years, Memphis has also focused heavily on supporting and developing emerging creative talent within Budapest’s underground and artistic communities. Through our exhibitions and live art concepts, we have collaborated with more than 40 visual artists and provided many of them with their first opportunity to publicly showcase their work or perform live painting sessions on stage. This includes collaborations with students and young creatives from institutions such as MOME (Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design) and the Hungarian University of Fine Arts.

Beyond visual arts, Memphis has played an active role in introducing new DJs to the Hungarian electronic music scene, both locally through our resident artists and internationally by inviting rising and respected DJs to perform in Hungary for the very first time through our events.

Our fashion collaborations and runway productions have also created opportunities for emerging designers, stylists, makeup artists, hairstylists, set designers, models, photographers, and videographers to present their work, often making their debut within a large-scale creative production shaped by the Memphis artistic direction and vision.

Over the years, Memphis has built a strong reputation within Budapest’s underground scene through sold-out events and collaborations with respected venues such as Palazzo Permanens, Toldi, Glasshouse, A38, Turbina, Arzenál, and Pontoon. The project has also hosted internationally recognized artists, including Chris Stussy, S.A.M., KUSS, Priku, Cabanne, Olga Korol, DeWalta, and Cristi Cons.

Today, Memphis continues to evolve as a multidisciplinary platform that connects electronic music, visual art, fashion, and immersive cultural experiences into one unified world.
